Editor's Review:

Welcome to AuPair.com, a site which links au pairs from all over the world with families from a variety of locations across the globe. There’s a real international feel to this site, with the option to choose from a huge range of countries to become an au pair in, or for families to choose au pairs from particular locations anywhere in the world. The site is also available to view in 9 languages (English, German, Polish, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Chinese, French and Portuguese).

There are a variety of options to choose from when searching for an au pair on this site, including the sort of role they will provide (au pair, nanny or senior caregiver), where they want to work, the country they are from, their nationality, availability, the duration of employment, the age range they can take care of and whether or not they can drive. This is a good range of options and, although there could be more, we feel that, as a preliminary set of requirements, this will suit most needs.

If you’re an au pair then you can search for jobs using the site’s “find a family” section. Building a profile is quick and easy, and you can upload photos. Another nice feature for the au pair wanting to advertise themselves is the “letter to a family” section of their profile, which allows them to include some details about themselves and what they hope to do in their new job position. There is also a range of services for au pairs and families including advice on salaries and how to attain working visas.

At just $54 for a 70 day premium package this is one of the cheapest child/senior care websites available. All members are able to express an interest in a job or an au pair , to build lists of their favourite users, to see who has visited their profile, perform detailed searches and more. Paying members are granted access to contact information, are able to send private messages, view videos and references. The ability to upload videos makes this site somewhat unique as it’s a pretty uncommon feature. It’s a great idea because it allows an au pair to introduce themselves in a natural way and you can actually see how they might interact with your children or senior family member, prior to interviewing.

A search will offer a surprising number of results and so there are plenty of people to choose from. You can also specify their nationality or current country of residence, which is particularly useful if you’re hoping to employ an au pair who will bring their culture and language to your family home. If you manage to combine this with the video profiles available, then you may get an opportunity to judge the au pair’s language capabilities to help you decide whether or not you want to contact them.

Aupair.com is an accomplished site which seeks to bring families and au pairs together from all over the world. There are a number of unique features which will help simplify the process and also add a few new dimensions to help each party decide on whether or not to join forces. A number of the site's information services are also worth considering as they offer useful information on some of the more bureaucratic elements of hiring au pairs. This is definitely a site you should check out if you are an au pair looking for work or are a family hoping to hire an au pair without paying a fortune for the experience.
