GoAuPair.com offers a full service to help families find au pairs and to help them provide transport and insurance costs. It does this by offering a range of services including screening and au pair training, regular contact with the GoAupair.com team and orientation sessions to allow the au pair and family to acquaint with each other before final decisions on employment are made.
As an au pair you can sign up to the site and upload a unique profile. The profiles allow you to upload multiple photos to show families the sorts of experiences you’ve had, as well as provide a range of information on your education, hobbies, availability and more. If you’re a family looking for an au pair then you’ll be able to search through these profiles to find an au pair who is likely to meet your needs. The site also states that 55% of their available au pairs have over 200 hours worth of experience with children under 2, 85% have a driver’s licence and 91% have experience with children ages 2-5. It’s really useful to have this amount of information and reassuring that so many of the au pairs available to work have this level of specialist experience.
There are plenty of useful articles to read on this site, split into handy sections for au pairs or for host families. They inform families as to the sort of roles an au pair might undertake and offer tips on scheduling and budgeting which help families to decide whether they can afford an au pair and what they are expected to provide the au pair with once someone decides to take the job. Au pairs can choose from several locations around the world including Australia, China and New Zealand, though the site is primarily targeted at au pairs who plan to move to America. GoAuPair offer training and also have their own awards scheme which rewards au pairs who go above and beyond their job description. Au pairs also share their thoughts and feelings about their job on a special blog, which is a great way for prospective au pairs to get a sense of the job requirements, and also for current au pairs to share their experiences with other au pairs.
Perhaps the most off-putting element of this site is its program costs. These are pretty high, but they do provide travel expenses and help you with a lot of the troublesome paperwork regarding legal obligations and finding insurance for an au pair. These costs are, of course, covered by the host family. Although expensive, goaupair.com offers a payment package which allows you to spread the cost over the year, meaning that you don’t need to have enough to pay it all at once to use the service.
GoAupair.com appears to offer a professional service with experienced staff. There’s a lot of useful information on the site, so why not take a look and see if this might be the site to bring a family and an au pair together!
