I signed up for this service to find a babysitter for a group of kids at my sister's wedding. The costs seemed absurdly high, but I needed a real professional and to make sure that there were backup Sitters available. The women on the phone that I talked to were friendly and helped me set up my request. Communication was spotty after initial contact, and promised cost estimates were never sent, but the easy-to-use website indicated the job had been assigned a sitter and everything was in order.
On the night of the wedding, no one showed up. Two phone calls were made to the company over the course of the evening, and both times I was assured that the office was working on it and I would be contacted shortly. No one ever called. My wedding guests had to take turns watching the children at the wedding.
When I called the office the following Monday, they apologized for my "inconvenience," saying that my sitter had canceled last minute and they had been unable to find another. They offered me a $10 credit (about 30 minutes worth of babysitting, but only if I pay for another 4 hours) to make it up to me.
I am sickened and disgusted by the utter lack of professionalism demonstrated by this service, and insulted by their paltry offer of credit. I will never get another chance to see my only sister be married, and I had to spend her wedding finding wedding guests to watch the children, and this service doesn't care at all. Be warned - this service charges almost twice market rate and doesn't deliver. You are far better off using a different service or a babysitter you already know.
In summary, I would not recommend Seeking Sitters to a friend.
